Roni Navilluso, una mica de poesia.
City ramblings LDN 21-3-2011

Going underground, the resounding rapture. Coming up again, the elation in the elevation. Temples of stone, glass domes that curve against the clear sky. City lights, city sights, an energy that bites. A vibrant current that charges the people on the pavements. To me this world isn’t hum drum but rather hustle and bustle, a swagger in its rustle. There is life here, marred with strife here. There is beauty that is uplifting found when through the problems we go sifting. Bus stop signs, parking fines, people at the tube in anything but straight lines! Hundreds of squares, thousands of sites that command you to stare. Pigeons in the parks, museums and galleries everywhere you look. From the staples of the high street to the gems down an alley. The secret place that only you, the haven where only few go. Rain soaked nights waiting for a taxi in your tights, heels in hand, barely able to stand. Cold winters’ mornings rushing to work. Spring Sundays on southbank serenaded by a hybrid of performers and their instruments. Summer days on the grass, beneath a sky resembling azure glass. The calm and delight in that pocket of light, the gem that only you know, the haven where only few go. The city it does call me from my quiet town bed. Singing of a vibrancy that I have lived and long to live again. Beneath the city’s starry skies our dreams, our energy never die. To the centre of the city I go if only for this one night, if only in my dreams I shall once again live in its delight!

Believe In A Dream

It’s almost surreal how when I should be sleeping the little lights seem to flicker inside, a thousand thoughts light up my sleeping world. I find myself to be the worst case ever for floating off into daydreams. I don’t think it’s something you grow out of, nor do I want to grow out of it. How can we dream if we can’t hope?

“A dream is a wish the heart makes.”

I can’t remember who said this, but the quote has stayed with me since I was a child. It really sums up the beauty of a dream, the heart being so many things, having so many connotations. For the heart’s wishes to be dreams shows just how important dreams are. When we wish deep in love, we dream.

In the same way the sun lights up our world when awake, dreams illuminate our sleeping world. They shine on a world where anything is possible. I’ve felt a sense of love and achievement in dreams that is indescribable. I’ve soared in my dreams above the clouds and problems alike. You can dream in a few hours sleep things that a hundred men could not achieve in ten thousand lifetimes.

Yes hard work must be done to achieve great things, I’m not saying we should all retreat to our thoughts and dream our lives away, I am merely saying we should see the power in our dreams. The burst of inspiration that led to many great achievements and inventions, who is to say it did not originate in a dream that would not die!

For us to live, to be motivated and happy we must also dream and see their beauty and power. If we can dream it, we can achieve it, all we must do is believe in the dream and ourselves.

Coldplay sang “Viva La Vida”, I say: Viva el sueño!

YNWA

Up to the top, the tip top, top of the Kop. A sea of red moving in waves, Ebbing and flowing with the scores and saves. A flash of red, a streak of white, El Niño in full flight. Once the darling of the Calderón, Now moving to the sound of that famous song. Through the wind, through the rain. A head held high, A passion that will never die!

The Introduction…

I’ve set up my tumblr in the hope that someone will read what I write and enjoy it. I would never dare to read my poems aloud. I did it once, yes I loved the adrenaline rush and the applause and comments at the end, but now that I’m finished my degree I’m no longer able to attend the meetings of the university’s Literature Society. The comments I especially loved because it meant someone had taken something from what I had said, I welcomed the good and the bad.

The best way for you to get to know me is by reading what I write, so please, read and enjoy, and comment too!
